In case you missed it, on April 11th, we hosted an event with Charlie and SaïdAli Mesbahi of No Strings for Charlie Shuffler + Friends at Old Flings. In the Issue 06 Charlie Shuffler + Friends edition, we had the privilege of delving into the intriguing world of Charlie Shuffler. Charlie has recently made a significant career move by joining Red Bull Records Publishing, a renowned independent label known for nurturing creativity and supporting emerging artists.

Our conversation with Charlie offered a captivating glimpse into his artistic path and ambitions in the music industry and beyond. Charlie Shuffler's name has become synonymous with hot and heavy 808s (yes, we mean hot) and boundary-pushing beats. Having worked with influential artists such as Lil Peep, Lil Tracy, and Groupthink, to name just a few, his distinctive production style and unique approach to music have garnered him a loyal fan base (the excitement surrounding the Charlie Shuffler + Friends event was unlike any other).

We're excited to witness Charlie's continued growth as he advances in his artistic journey (and you should be too), leaving a significant mark on the industry and inspiring aspiring musicians.

From envisioning a venture into the fashion and film sectors to drawing inspiration from Samuel Robbins, the owner of Old Flings and Treasure Club, and desiring to establish a bar in New York, Charlie's creative endeavors are limitless.

Soon, Charlie has an exclusive collaboration with Old Flings and Intrepid dropping.

"I HAVE A COLLAB WITH INTREPID AND OLD FLINGS DROPPING SOON. WE DID A SHIRT AND A SWEATER AND IT'S REALLY DOPE. SHOUT OUT TO MY BOY SAM AND MY BOY ANDE."

CHARLIE SHUFFLER: THE INTERVIEW.

CHARLIE, FOR THOSE WHO MAY BE UNFAMILIAR, HOW DID THE JOURNEY INTO MUSIC PRODUCTION BEGIN FOR YOU?

I STARTED MAKING MUSIC BACK IN 2016. I WAS IN COLLEGE AT A SMALL SCHOOL IN NEBRASKA, GOT HURT PLAYING FOOTBALL, AND STARTED TO PURSUE MUSIC FULL-TIME.

WHEN I WAS A KID, I ALWAYS KNEW I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING MUSIC-RELATED, I JUST DIDN'T REALLY KNOW WHAT THAT MEANT YET, AND MUSIC PRODUCTION AND SONGWRITING, AND DJING WAS KIND OF HOW IT ALL ENDED UP MAKING SENSE FOR ME.

SINCE I WAS A SUPER YOUNG KID, I WAS ALWAYS ON THE INTERNET FINDING NEW MUSIC, AND BEING SUPER EARLY TO STUFF.

BUT YEAH, LUCKILY, WHEN I FIRST STARTED, I GOT CONNECTED WITH AN ARTIST NAMED COLD HART, AND HE PRETTY MUCH INTRODUCED ME TO EVERYONE I KNEW IN THE BEGINNING, INCLUDING LIL PEEP, LIL TRACY, AND OTHERS.

WHEN PRODUCING, HOW DO YOU NAVIGATE GENRE BOUNDARIES, OR DO YOU PREFER TO BLUR THEM ENTIRELY?

I PREFER TO BLUR THEM. I'VE MADE PRETTY MUCH EVERY GENRE AT THIS POINT, SO I ALWAYS MAKE MUSIC WITH AN OPEN MIND. I FEEL LIKE THAT'S IMPORTANT TO DO, ESPECIALLY NOWADAYS.

IN AN INDUSTRY THAT'S CONSTANTLY CHANGING, IF YOU COULD CHANGE ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

THERE ARE A FEW THINGS I WOULD CHANGE, BUT IF I COULD CHANGE ANYTHING, IT WOULD PROBABLY BE THE PRESSURE AND DEMAND ARTISTS, PRODUCERS, AND SONGWRITERS HAVE TO MAKE AKE MUSIC THEY DON'T REALLY WANT TO JUST FOR MONEY OR LIKES.

THERE ARE A FEW LAYERS TO THAT STATEMENT, BUT WE ALL HAVE TO GET PAID SOMEHOW, SO IT'S FINE, I GET IT.

EVERYONE NEEDS MONEY TO SURVIVE, NONETHELESS, SO SOMETIMES WE FIND OURSELVES DOING SESSIONS OR MAKING SOMETHING WE'RE NOT REALLY PASSIONATE ABOUT. BUT IT'S ALL GOOD. THAT'S PROBABLY EVERY INDUSTRY.

BUT YEAH, I KNOW THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY IN GENERAL GETS A BAD REP, BUT TO BE HONEST, I MET ALL MY BEST FRIENDS THROUGH MUSIC.

BEYOND PRODUCING, WHAT OTHER CREATIVE ENDEAVORS HAVE YOU BEEN PASSIONATE ABOUT RECENTLY?

I REALLY ENJOY FILM AND TV, SO HOPEFULLY, IN THE FUTURE, I CAN DO SOME SORT OF WRITING, FILM DIRECTION, OR EVEN SET DESIGN FOR SOMETHING.

I HAVEN'T DONE IT YET BUT I WOULD LOVE TO DO IT IN THE FUTURE.

I THINK WRITING A SHOW WOULD BE REALLY COOL AND I HAVE A LOT OF IDEAS. AND OBVIOUSLY DIRECTING A MOVIE WOULD BE A DREAM. I ALSO WOULD LOVE TO DO SOMETHING WITH FASHION.

I HAVE A COLLAB WITH INTREPID AND OLD FLINGS DROPPING SOON.

WE DID A SHIRT AND A SWEATER AND IT'S REALLY DOPE. SHOUT OUT TO MY BOY SAM AND MY BOY ANDE. I ALSO LOVE THROWING PARTIES AND PROGRAMMING EVENTS TOO.

ARE THERE ANY UNREALIZED PROJECTS THAT YOU HOPE TO BRING TO LIFE IN THE FUTURE?

THIS IS AN INTERESTING QUESTION!

I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION, BUT IN THE FUTURE, I WOULD LOVE TO OWN AND RUN A BAR.

SPECIFICALLY IN NEW YORK CITY.

AGAIN, SHOUT OUT TO MY BOY SAM; HE KIND OF PUT THAT IDEA IN MY HEAD. BUT THAT WOULD BE A DREAM OF MINE, AND I BELIEVE I CAN ACHIEVE THAT ONE DAY.

HOPEFULLY SOONER THAN LATER.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG ARTISTS AND PRODUCERS JUST STARTING OUT?

KIND OF WHAT I SAID EARLIER, CHERISH AND ENJOY EVERY MOMENT, EVEN WHEN IT'S HARD AND YOU HAVE NO MONEY. THOSE WERE THE MOST FUN TIMES IN MY LIFE.

ALSO MAKE MUSIC YOU LIKE AND WITH PEOPLE YOU LIKE.

THAT WILL GET YOU THE FURTHEST IN YOUR CAREER.

FINALLY, WHAT'S NEXT FOR CHARLIE SHUFFLER? WHAT SHOULD WE BE LOOKING OUT FOR?

NEW MUSIC AND MORE PARTIES. JUST NEW COOL SHIT IN GENERAL.

I'M CONSTANTLY WORKING ON MYSELF AND EVOLVING IN EVERY ASPECT, SO JUST BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THAT TOO.

Thank you so much to Charlie for the interview.
